Having long been dedicated to a life of sofas, food and armchair adventures, I decided to mark my 60th birthday by trekking to Everest Basecamp!! Unfortunately, having watched several YouTube videos, I realised I might need a modicum of fitness. The journey began with joining my local gym and recruiting Laurence, a highly recommended personal trainer. Laurence provided the inspiration, and I (mostly) provided the effort. He was always encouraging and never asked me to do anything that I couldn’t do. This gave me the confidence and belief that I could achieve my goal. Laurence has an amazing level of knowledge and helped not only with increasing my fitness levels but also advised on how to manage the aches and pains of newly discovered muscles and less new bones and joints. I did make it to the Himalaya and saw Everest with my own eyes; a dream I never thought would come true. On my return, I have continued to work with Laurence, and I am thinking about my next adventure (maybe to the top of Everest this time?). And when the going gets tough, you can always ask him about football. This will distract him for long enough to get your breath back 😊. So, the original recommendation turned out to be an excellent one. I know Laurence will be an excellent trainer of choice for you, too.
I First started working with Laurence over two years ago when I was diagnosed with osteopenia and was advised to seek professional guidance with weight bearing exercises. I also had a very painful right knee and struggled to walk properly and had difficulty using the stairs. Laurence assessed that I had a problem with my patella tracking that had resulted in my IT band becoming tight, with stretching and through specific leg exercises, within four months I had no pain and could walk properly, nothing short of a miracle for which I am very grateful for. Unfortunately, I had a swimming injury causing damage to my shoulder arm and neck. Whilst I await my surgery date, Laurence has kept me at work and the pain to a minimum with his weekly assessment and exercise plans. Laurence is very caring, thoughtful and offers invaluable advice and has made a massive difference to my mobility strength and confidence.
